How it works

The Power of Regenerative Medicine

Hair Restoration Mechanism

The injection of activated PRP directly into the scalp delivers a powerful dose of bioactive proteins to the hair root. These growth factors prolong the anagen (growth) phase of the hair cycle, increase blood supply to the follicle, and thicken the diameter of existing hair strands. We provide customized treatment plans to restore density and health. Most clients describe the scalp treatment as surprisingly comfortable, and notice reduced shedding within the first few sessions before new growth begins.

Skin Renewal: Scars, Lines & Texture.

PRP is highly effective when combined with micro-needling to treat textural issues. The micro-injuries allow the PRP to deeply penetrate the dermis, where the growth factors aggressively stimulate the production of new collagen and elastin. This significantly improves acne scars, surgical scars, and enlarged pores.

Common Treatment Areas

Hair Thinning & Alopecia

Hair thinning is one of the most emotionally difficult changes to face, and one of the most undertreated, because many people assume it's simply inevitable. PRP changes that equation. When injected directly into the scalp, your Platelet-Rich Plasma delivers a concentrated burst of growth factors to dormant and weakened follicles, reactivating the growth cycle, prolonging the active growth phase, and gradually thickening each individual strand from the root. Most clients notice a meaningful reduction in shedding within the first 2–3 sessions, followed by visible improvements in density and coverage over the following months. PRP is most effective for androgenetic alopecia, male and female pattern hair loss, and works best when started before significant follicle loss has occurred. If you've been watching your part widen, your hairline recede, or your ponytail thin, this is the conversation to have sooner rather than later.

Acne & Surgical Scars

Acne scars and surgical marks are among the most stubborn skin concerns to treat, they sit deep in the dermis where topical products simply can't reach. PRP works by delivering concentrated growth factors directly into the scar tissue, triggering a controlled healing response that stimulates new collagen and elastin production from within. Over a series of sessions, the texture of the scar gradually softens, indentations become shallower, and the skin surface begins to even out in a way that reflects genuine structural renewal rather than surface-level coverage. For best results, PRP for scarring is often combined with microneedling, a pairing that dramatically increases growth factor absorption and accelerates the remodelling process. Ask your RN whether a combined approach is right for your scar type.

Fine Lines & Crepey Skin

Fine lines and crepey texture are signs of collagen and elastin loss, and while they're a natural part of ageing, they don't have to be permanent. PRP injected across affected areas delivers growth factors that signal your skin's fibroblasts to produce new structural proteins, gradually firming and smoothing the tissue from the inside out. The neck and décolletage respond particularly well to this approach, areas where traditional injectables are less suitable, but where skin quality loss is highly visible. Unlike neurotoxins that relax muscles or fillers that add volume, PRP works on the quality of the skin itself, making it an excellent standalone treatment or complement to other procedures in a broader rejuvenation plan.

Overall Skin Tone & Radiance

Sometimes the concern isn't a specific line or scar, it's that your skin has lost the quality, glow, and evenness it once had. PRP addresses this at the cellular level, delivering a broad spectrum of growth factors that improve vascular supply, stimulate collagen turnover, and enhance the skin's ability to renew itself naturally. Clients who choose PRP for overall radiance often describe the result as their skin looking like it used to, clearer, plumper, and more alive, without looking like anything has been done. This full-face approach pairs exceptionally well with our AlumierMD peels, exosome treatments, or microneedling for clients who want a comprehensive, results-driven skin health plan. Ask your RN about combining treatments for maximum long-term benefit.
IS THIS RIGHT FOR ME?

PRP Therapy: Are You a Good Candidate?

PRP uses your own Platelet-Rich Plasma to stimulate natural renewal, for both hair restoration and skin rejuvenation. Because it's derived entirely from your own blood, it's extremely well-tolerated. That said, results depend on the underlying cause of your concern, particularly for hair loss.Good to Know Before You Come InPRP requires a small blood draw, similar in volume to a routine lab test. The plasma is then processed in our centrifuge on-site and injected the same appointment. If you have needle anxiety or a history of feeling faint during blood draws, please let us know in advance and we'll take extra care to keep you comfortable throughout. Not Sure Whether You Need PRP or PRF?PRF (Platelet-Rich Fibrin) is the next generation of PRP, a more concentrated matrix that releases growth factors more slowly and over a longer period. Both are available at Luna Med Spa. Your RN will recommend the right option, or a combination of both, based on your specific concerns and goals. There's no pressure to decide before your consultation.

During your complimentary consultation at Luna Med Spa, one of our Registered Nurses will assess your anatomy, skin quality, and goals before recommending any treatment. Here's a general guide to help you prepare.

You're Likely a Great Candidate If...

For Hair Restoration:
You are experiencing early-to-moderate hair thinning or shedding, PRP works best before significant follicle loss has occurred
You have been diagnosed with or suspect androgenetic alopecia (male or female pattern hair loss)
You are noticing a receding hairline, widening part, or overall reduction in hair density
You are committed to a series of sessions, hair restoration with PRP typically requires 3–4 treatments spaced 4–6 weeks apart, with maintenance sessions recommended
For Skin Rejuvenation:
You have acne scarring, surgical scars, or post-inflammatory marks you'd like to improve
You're noticing fine lines, crepey texture, or dullness that skincare alone isn't addressing
You want a 100% natural approach to skin renewal with no synthetic ingredients
For Both:
You are in good general health with no active infections near the treatment area
You are not pregnant or breastfeeding
You have realistic expectations, PRP results build gradually over 3–6 months

You May Need to Wait or Discuss With Us If...

You have a blood clotting disorder, platelet dysfunction, or low platelet count
You are taking blood thinners, anticoagulants, or high-dose NSAIDs, discuss with your prescribing physician before pausing
You have a history of blood-borne illness such as hepatitis or HIV, autologous treatments require individual clinical assessment
You are pregnant or breastfeeding
You have active skin infection, open wounds, or cold sores near the planned treatment area
Your hair loss is caused by thyroid conditions, nutritional deficiencies, or autoimmune disease (such as alopecia areata), PRP may still help, but addressing the root cause first is essential and your RN will advise accordingly
You have advanced or complete follicle loss in the treatment area, PRP stimulates existing follicles and cannot regenerate areas where follicles are no longer active

The Experience

What to Expect: Comfort & Timing

As a medical aesthetic clinic, patient safety and comfort are our highest priority. The treatment begins with a standard blood draw performed by a Registered Nurse. The blood is then processed in a Health Canada-approved centrifuge to isolate the highly concentrated Platelet-Rich Plasma layer.

The platelets are activated to ensure maximum therapeutic benefit. Downtime is minimal, generally involving temporary redness or minor swelling for 12 to 24 hours. Full results develop gradually as collagen and hair follicles are naturally stimulated. Optional Exosome treatment can be applied to assist in your recovery process. Exosomes are nano-sized regenerative particles that amplify the growth factor response. Ask your RN whether this add-on is right for your treatment plan.
